Rep. Terri Sewell to Present $25 Million Ceremonial Check to BJCTA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) will welcome U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) on Wednesday, September 30, for a ceremonial check presentation recognizing a $25 million federal investment from the U.S. Department of Transportation to support BJCTA’s new Operations & Maintenance Facility. 

The federal grant will support BJCTA’s continued modernization of its transit infrastructure, including a new facility designed to strengthen operations, accommodate cleaner-energy technologies and support the agency’s evolving fleet. 

The presentation will provide a photo and video opportunity for members of the media and highlight the federal and local partnership supporting the future of public transportation in Birmingham and Jefferson County.
