MAX Transit provides fixed-route bus service through the Birmingham - Jefferson County area, with stops at convenient and key locations throughout the region. Our buses are also ADA-accessible and run on set schedules (approximate and subject to change). Learn more about our bus routes and plan your trip using the bus schedules below.

Bus Routes
Check out the three bus lines we offer to cater to different needs across our service area. In addition to our bus lines, Max On-Demand offers curbside to curbside transportation in select service areas.
Birmingham Xpress (BX)
Birmingham Xpress is a state-of-the-art Bus Rapid Transit system offering rail-like convenience and efficiency with the flexibility of a bus. BX runs from east to west Birmingham, connecting neighborhoods and popular Birmingham destinations from the Woodlawn Transit Center to the Crossplex Transit Center. Buses include Wi-Fi (MAX_WiFi), charging stations and bike racks.
The Magic City Connector (MCC)
The Magic City Connector buses are sponsored by Coca-Cola. They run along 20th Street from the Uptown district in downtown Birmingham to the Homewood City Center, connecting to other fixed route buses as well as many Birmingham attractions. Buses include Wi-Fi (MAX_WiFi), charging stations and bike racks.
Max Fixed Route
Fixed route includes all commuter bus services provided by MAX Transit outside of the Magic City Connector and Birmingham Xpress that run in the Birmingham-Jefferson County area. Routes are combined under North/East and South/West. Buses include bike racks.
