Bus Operator – Fixed Route

 
  • Summary

Fixed Route Operator is responsible for providing safe, courteous, and on time transportation to the general public. Under close supervision, operates commercial public transit buses in the Birmingham Jefferson County service area. Must have a valid Alabama Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B and with a passenger and airbrake endorsement. Must have new Alabama learner’s permit if have only taken the written CDL test.

Education / Experience

High school or equivalent with at least two (2) years experience driving a commercial vehicle.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

Compensation:

This position is apart of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in which there is Progression Pay which consists of raise every 6 month until top pay is reached. In accordance with CBA, the pay for this position is as follows:

First 6 Months: $14.17/hr.

Second 6 Months: $15.26/hr.

Third 6 Months: $16.36/hr.

Fourth 6 Months: $17.44/hr.

Fifth 6 Months: $18.53/hr.

Sixth 6 Months: $19.62/hr.

Thereafter: $21.80/hr.
