MAX Transit’s Fixed Route Service
The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) is the leading public transportation provider in the City of Birmingham, Alabama. The agency was established in 1972 to take over transit operations from the private industry. Currently, utilizing 77 fixed route buses and 39 routes, BJCTA services more than 200 square miles with a demand population base of nearly 400,000. The service area includes Birmingham, Bessemer, Center Point, Homewood, Hoover, Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Tarrant, and Midfield.
