The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) is pleased to announce two recent staff promotions in the Capitol, Planning & Project Delivery department that underscore our commitment to fostering leadership and innovation within its team.
Jennifer Maiden Promoted to Project Manager
Jennifer Maiden, who joined MAX Transit just over a year ago as a Business Analyst, has been promoted to Project Manager. With over 15 years of experience in software quality assurance, configurations, and project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile, Maiden brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. Her proven track record in managing complex projects and ensuring high-quality outcomes positions her as an invaluable asset to BJCTA. As Project Manager, Maiden will oversee critical initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and advancing the authority’s strategic goals.
Shana Thompson Elevated to Senior Capital Project Manager
Shana Thompson, a seasoned professional with nearly 25 years of experience, has been promoted from Capital Project Manager to Senior Capital Project Manager. Thompson has spent nearly 15 years dedicated to public transit, contributing her expertise in project programming and management. Her leadership in overseeing capital projects has been instrumental in driving infrastructure improvements that benefit the community. In her new role, Thompson will take on expanded responsibilities, ensuring the successful execution of major projects that align with BJCTA’s vision for sustainable and reliable transit services.

By recognizing and advancing leaders like Maiden and Thompson, MAX Transit continues to strengthen its ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic industry.
Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Amanda Hare and Director of Customer Experience, Tevarius Foster will be speaking at the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) upcoming Marketing, Communication and Customer Experience workshop.
Hare and Foster will be among other accomplished professionals from leading metropolitan transit systems all over the nation including Tacoma, Washington, Ft. Worth, Texas and San Bernadino, California.
Panelists will delve into how sophisticated advertising strategies can foster community empowerment and create meaningful connections between transit systems and their diverse urban populations.
“We’re thrilled to showcase MAX Transit’s innovative approaches at this national forum. This opportunity allows us to not only share Birmingham and Jefferson County’s transit vision but also learn and gain valuable insight from industry leaders across the country,” Amanda Hare stated about the upcoming APTA workshop.
This workshop, held in Long Beach, California on February 26 at 8:30 a.m., represents a significant opportunity for transit professionals to gain cutting-edge insights into modern transportation marketing strategies.
