BJCTA Deputy Walker named on BBJ ‘Women to Watch’ list
The Birmingham Business Journal has recognized BJCTA Deputy Executive Director Stephanie Walker as one of the Magic City’s most accomplished women, naming her to its prestigious Women to Watch list for 2025. This honor highlights Deputy Walker’s outstanding leadership, her transformative impact within the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority, and her broader contributions to the business and civic landscape of Birmingham.
It also honors her ability to lead with both strength and empathy-building systems, securing major investments, and driving a culture of equity, resilience, and innovation.
With more than 26 years of industry experience, Deputy Walker brings exceptional expertise in people operations, grant management, compliance, strategic planning, and financial oversight to her role at BJCTA. Her visionary approach and dedication have been instrumental in advancing the agency’s mission of connecting people to places.
Prior to her current position, Deputy Walker served as Chief of Staff, where she cultivated a culture of accountability and excellence throughout the organization.
Deputy Walker will be formally recognized at the 2025 BBJ Women’s Summit, scheduled for Friday, September 26 at 8 a.m. in the East Ballroom of the BJCC.
