The Fleet Maintenance Department of the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) is responsible for the maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of the Authority’s diverse fleet, which includes 65 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) transit buses, 2 battery electric buses, 41 paratransit vans, 17 microtransit vans, and 24 non-revenue support vehicles. This department plays a vital role in supporting BJCTA’s mission to provide safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible public transportation throughout the Birmingham metropolitan area.
The department’s core responsibilities include preventive maintenance, routine inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and strict adherence to all federal, state, and local safety and emissions regulations.
